DE KOM COTTAGE

De Kom Cottage is not a place you visit - it’s a place you disappear into.

The Space

The cottage comfortably sleeps up to six guests and is designed for slow, shared living. It features two bedrooms - a queen-size main bedroom and a twin room - along with a double sleeper couch in the lounge for additional guests. There is one indoor bathroom with both a bath and shower, as well as an outdoor, open-air bathroom with a bath, shower, and toilet. The open-plan layout brings everything together seamlessly, with a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area made for long, unhurried meals, and a comfortable lounge anchored by a fireplace. Large French doors open onto the stoep, extending the living space into the landscape. Expect comfort without clutter - everything you need, nothing you don’t.

Outdoor Living (Where De Kom Really Wins)

Step outside and the experience shifts. A plunge pool filled with fresh spring water looks out over olive groves and lemon orchards, mountain ridges, creating a setting that feels both expansive and completely private. The stone-built open-air bathroom - complete with bath, shower, and toilet - invites you to slow down and reconnect under the sky. A covered stoep sets the tone for quiet mornings with coffee and golden-hour evenings with a glass of wine, while the braai area becomes the centre of long, fire-lit nights. This is where guests tend to linger far longer than they planned.

The Experience

De Kom isn’t just a place to stay - it’s a rhythm shift. Days unfold naturally, whether you’re hiking directly from your doorstep through untouched veld, exploring nearby rooibos tea plantations, or cooling off in a secluded mountain dam just 300 metres from the cottage. As the afternoon settles, the landscape comes alive in its own quiet way- eagles glide across the cliffs while dassies bask in the last of the sun. There are no crowds, no noise, and no pressure to do anything at all - just nature, uninterrupted.

Details That Matter

Air conditioning keeps things comfortable in the warmer months, while WiFi is available when needed- though easy to ignore when it’s not. Secure parking adds peace of mind, and the cottage’s remote setting ensures complete privacy throughout your stay.
